Colposcopy Appointment

A while back, my PAP results came back indicating abnormal cells. I was referred to a gynecologist at our local hospital for a follow-up diagnostic exam: colposcopy. Due to one thing and another, my first colposcopy exam was scheduled for the end of November 2011. Last fall, I took a Home Pregnancy Test on November 21, and got a positive result. At my colposcopy, the doctor took me on as one of her OB patients. A few months ago, I had my physical and at that time my family doctor asked me to follow up with the OB/GYN to determine if I should resume regular PAP tests or arrange for a follow-up colposcopy. I went to the office and got an appointment for mid-October. A few weeks ago, I got a call rescheduling for November 9. This morning, at my appointment, I told the doctor that there was a possibility that I am pregnant. She replied: “I was just thinking that; and hoping for you.” I haven’t had an opportunity to take a Home Pregnancy Test yet; but I have some reasons to suspect that we are expecting.
  • My period was extremely irregular before I got pregnant with River; since the C-Section, it has regulated.
  • Using the longest cycle I’ve had since May, my period was due on Wednesday of this week.
  • I haven’t even had significant spotting yet.
  • While I haven’t had sore breasts – the symptom that triggered me testing last fall, I have had other symptoms.
    1. stuffy nose, and occasional bleeding when I blow my nose
    2. feeling hungry – all the time – accompanied with frequent burping
    3. frequent urination
    4. mild, dull headache
    5. extreme exhaustion that comes on suddenly, even after sleeping a full night
    6. did I mention the no period AND no spotting?
I’m planning to test next week, probably on Wednesday or Thursday. I am waiting until my period is a week late. I’ve had false alarms in the past when my period was days late for no apparent reason – I tested throughout and didn’t get a positive, so I doubt these were chemical pregnancies or early miscarriages.
Let’s all keep our fingers crossed that we got lucky this cycle.

Fingers crossed Erin. I remember how hard it was to hope beyond hope, and also try not to hope too hard each cycle so it wouldn’t be too sad if it wasn’t this time. Let’s hope together.
